I’d decided to sit in a dark corner of the room to prevent being spoken to. Looking around the room, I noticed men pulling round tables from a store cupboard into the hall, then covering them with white cloths and dressing them with purple flowers in clear crystal vases, purple napkins and name cards. I looked up at Edward worriedly.
“It’s just drinks Bella, you’ll only have to drink water, it’s not bad, trust me,” he said, standing up. The men had finished with the tables and everyone was hovering around them finding where they were seated. I looked over to Alice who was sat at the front table and she smiled at me and patted the seat next to her. I walked over, ignoring the flames in my throat as I walked past tables of humans.
“Gosh Alice!” I laughed sitting down “It’s not as if it’s her wedding!” Alice laughed and told me that this was nothing compared to what would happen at the wedding, which worried me. I didn’t even bother trying to read Edward’s mind. I was trying to hold my breath, to prevent the smells of the humans and wolves overwhelming me. Renesmee and Jacob sat down, beaming. I’d only ever seen her smile more than this when Jacob proposed to her this morning.
“We’re announcing our engagement tonight!” Renesmee smiled “And two other things!” grabbing Jacob’s face and kissing him.
The waiters gave us our drinks. Pouring the water into my glass, I felt a little uneasy. The others drank it without even thinking, they were used to it. I finally brought myself to take a sip, the water wet my mouth, and it tasted vile. Emmett laughed at my reaction so I pulled a face at him and Rosalie elbowed him hard, smiling at me. Alice then stood up and walked onto the stage smiling as she switched on the microphone and the whole room went quiet.
“Hello everybody, thank you for coming to celebrate my beautiful niece’s 20th birthday!” she said, “Renesmee and Jacob have a few announcements to make tonight, so I’m going to leave you with them!” then gracefully stepped off the stage and returned to the table, while Renesmee and Jacob walked hand in hand onto the stage.
“Hi!” she smiled as the room applauded. “Okay, so I have a few announcements to make! As you know, today is my birthday and this morning, Jacob proposed and I accepted!” she smiled and Jacob kissed her cheek while everyone clapped. “Today we talked about dates, and we decided on August 13th next year, A because it’s my mom and dad’s anniversary,” she smiled down at us, we smiled back, but Edward seemed a little more excited, as did Carlisle and Alice, as if they knew something else, “and B, this afternoon, my grandpa Carlisle confirmed that I’m having a baby!” as my hand covered my mouth, her hand dropped to her stomach. I immediately noticed a slight bump. How had I not noticed this? Rosalie was ecstatic; she loved babies more than anything, even Emmett. I was just too shocked to speak.
